The area
Home to the prestigious yachting race
Vendée Globe, the reputation of Les
Sables d’Olonne lies with the sea and all
things maritime. Particularly popular with
families the mostly south facing and well
sheltered beaches are superb playgrounds for

sports including sailing, diving, surfing,
paragliding and there are a number of
children’s clubs in season. The
magnificent maritime forest to the south of the

protected woodlands for walks and picnics.
Walking and cycling are both well catered for
with over 13 miles of cycle tracks in and
around the resort. Leisure centres and a number
of municipal tennis courts are also available.
Les Sables d’Olonne has a well
established Spa with top of the range
facilities and an 18hole golf course Golf des
Olonnes (2 miles). The daily market takes place
in the covered Halles (market hall). It is well
worth a visit for the variety of fresh local
produce on offer and for the atmosphere.
